First in Corporate IT Culture
In our experience, IT is the biggest divider among employees.
There are employees who genuinely do not know how to connect their mouse to the USB port, or enable their computer's Bluetooth service to connect the mouse, among other similar tasks. While some IT engineers might get frustrated dealing with these issues, or even worse, laugh at situations like this, these employees feel left behind, discriminated against, and judged.
It is crucial for IT teams to be empathic and have regular in-person meetings with employees to build rapport, make them comfortable to raise their concerns, and be able to educate them. A culture of education can help employees learn more and more about technology.
These learning opportunities start with simple tasks like explaining Bluetooth connections and how to connect monitors and progress to recognizing spam messages, using strong passwords generated by password managers, and acquiring more advanced security and technical skills.
